Dr. Carla Bradshaw is a clinical psychologist in private practice working in Kirkland, Washington. She specializes in couple therapy although she also serves adult clients in a variety of ways including individual therapy, family and group therapy. Her other areas of expertise include treatment for recovery from trauma, resilience, recovery from addictions, depression and anxiety. She also engages in forensic psychology, community presentations on parenting and resilience, clinical supervision of psychology graduate students, peer consultation, and professional writing primarily in the areas of ethnic identity development and mixed race experience in the United States.
Her approach to therapy is:
- Realistic, in that she encourages you to keep in mind the life you are working to achieve without losing sight of your obligations, your responsibilities, and your integrity. It is important to pursue your heart's desire, just as it is important to know that what you do in this pursuit are activities that you will respect in yourself when you look back at them.
- Developmental, in that it is assumed that we all can get better at things and that if you want it to be, getting better can be a lifelong pursuit.
- Positive, in that rather than focusing on what is broken or wrong, using what you are already good at, identifying what you need to get better at in order to make things better, and understanding the ways in which you have fallen short are potent ways to take your life into your own hands.
